Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington. She began her acting career as Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film Piano. She had little prior experience in acting. The actress moved into the United States as a teen. Paquin was cast as the child title in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. In addition, she played a leading role in Fly Away Home, a film that was released in that same year. Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the television version of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin also had a role of Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's 1997 movie Amistad. She played teenage girls in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) as well as her Polexia Aphrodisa girl in Almost Famous (2000).
